Philip Gardiner (2003) |
Philip Gardiner was born in London and studied ceramics at North Staffordshire Polytechnic. In 1971 he moved to Mevagissey and ran the Pentewan Pottery for four years. He then joined Cooper Pottery in Shropshire where he became the head thrower. In 1983 he returned to Cornwall to set up shop in Mevagissey. All pots are hand thrown, dried for up to three weeks and then fired to 1000° centigrade in an electric kiln. After glazing and decorating, the pots are fired again to 1200° C to melt the glaze. |
