Laura McCrossen was born in Southampton in 1964. She achieved a diploma in ceramics at Southend College of Technology in 1985 and a BA (Hons) in 3 dimensional design at Bath College of Higher Education in 1988.
In 1991 Laura moved to St Ives and established Fish Pye Pottery in 1994. She works with stoneware, earthenware and terracotta, many pieces inspired by fish and sea-related subjects and the natural Cornish surroundings. In 1994 and 1995 she designed bathroom jars, soap dishes and beakers for Habitat. Her work can be found on tables in several cafes around St Ives. Look for the Fish Pye mark on sugar canisters and bud vases next time you have a coffee!

Robert Wilcox was born in Nuneaton in 1944. He studied at Nuneaton College of Art and Stoke on Trent. In 1967 he became a forensic artist with the Warwickshire Police specialising in artist impressions. He has published papers on facial identity related subjects. On retirement in 1997, he moved to St Ives with his wife Ann.
